If you encounter printing problems, the first thing you should do is set the LogLevel parameter in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf to "debug" and restart the cupsd process, usually with one of the following commands:
/etc/init.d/cups restart /etc/rc.d/init.d/cups restart /sbin/init.d/cups restart
The /var/log/cups/error_log file will contain a detailed log of everything that is reported by the scheduler and print filters.

Do you run these commands at only the print server or also at the client computer that is having trouble printing? I have 6 Ubuntu computers running Ubuntu 9.10 at my local library and am constantly getting print jobs not printing. Everything goes fine for a day or so then nothing prints so I reinstall the drivers and it works again for a few hours or days. This is getting to be a major headache and is leading to people wanting me to return to Windows XP.Thank you. Reply
