Now that CUPS 1.4 has gone beta, we need people to translate the message catalog and web interface files. Please post comments here if you plan on working on a particular language, and then follow up with your actual translations on the Bugs & Features page.
Instructions for translating CUPS can be found in the Translating and Customizing CUPS documentation.
Could I translate CUPS to Russian language? Reply
We already have a Russian translation, but if you'd like to review the current one we'd appreciate the extra eyes!

Thanks! Reply
Started German translation. If somebody want to help me, then write to 'krumboeck(at)universalnet(dot)at'. Reply
Hi, Mike. Do you have plan on the Chinese translation? I will be glad to be the volunteer to do Chinese version if any. Thanks. Reply
We have a preliminary translation of the CUPS message catalog but not the web interface. If you'd like to do the web interface and review the message catalog we'd greatly appreciate it!
You can get the current message catalogs from:
Hi, Portuguese Brazilian team started translation.
The html files from 'doc/help' can be translated?
Page 'http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/translation.html' don't mention these html files.
We currently don't normally localize the help files, but if we get enough translations we'll be happy to add them (and the necessary support code in help.cgi...) Reply
I'll do the Polish if available:). Reply
Hi Mike,
I, and some other Japanese volunteers will do the Japanese translation. Reply
Do you already have someone working on the german translation? If not I might be able to have a look as time permits. Reply
Nobody has volunteered to do German yet, but it would be much appreciated! Reply
I can do the Hebrew translation. Two questions if you please:
Regards,
Opher.

You'll have at least another month to do the translation.
As for translating the web interface first, that's fine but we probably won't integrate the translation until we have both pieces.
Thanks!
I already have updated cups_ru.po and localized web interface files and buttons for an earlier version of CUPS. That is, Russian is almost fully covered here. I just need to update web interface related files and send it to you. Reply
Keep in mind that the message catalog file and web interface are completely new in CUPS 1.4, so you'll probably be better off starting from scratch... Reply
By the way, I had to update GIMP scripts for creating buttons to work with GIMP 2.6. Do you want a patch? Reply
No, the new web interface does not use image buttons, so it is no longer necessary.
I very much doubt that you rewrote every single translatable message, so TMX will do the job for me :) Reply
OK. I'll do Spanish translation one more time. I'm pleased to do so.
What is the initial planning of beta and rc versions? (i.e. how many time we have to make this work?)
Thanks Reply
There will be at least a release candidate before the final 1.4.0 release. The web interface and message catalogs should be stable for the final release, though, so you shouldn't have to redo the translations. Reply
I'm official Polish translator of Fedora Project and contributor to GNOME Polish translation, so I believe I can deliver best Polish translation for CUPS 1.4. I will submit completed work next week. Reply
